Over the years I’ve re-homed many older rescue dogs and the Oldies Club website is a firm favourite of mine. They specialise in dogs who, for a variety of reasons, unfortunately find themselves seeking forever homes in their latter years.
They work with animal rescues to publicise the plight of their oldies and their website lists oldies from hundreds of rescues around the UK.
Of my own years of homing rescued dogs, five of my dogs, my husband and I rescued, were over the age of 8 and all fantastic, loyal and very loving – enjoyed some light exercise and always lapped-up the home comforts! Four of them continued to enjoy life well into their sixteenth year and one, my dear old ‘Mrs D’ (pictured below) who we rescued at 13 years, led a good life well beyond her 17th birthday!
If you are considering adopting a rescue dog, why not have a look at the Oldies Club website, there are so many older dogs out there looking for a peaceful retirement home, their past is often known and they are just waiting to share your love and your sofa!
